It has been quite a while since I have been on here to write about the adventures had in the Tobler family. Tonight was a special moment I never want to forget, so I thought I'd write it down.
It is a very cloudy, rainy, thundery evening where we are. Little Em kept walking around the house in her naked bum (potty training is happening) saying "Ooh Tundur momma!" interpretation therof...Thunder. hahaha! She had heard Thunder before, but never so much and so loud. While I was getting this little bub ready for bed, brushed teeth, diaper, jammies, a loud crack of lightening was heard. With wide eyes and a very surprised face "Waasssat Momma?" she said. I told her it was lightening. "Oooh liten" she said with gusto. I replied with a "Yep!"just quickly moving the conversation along....Her curious mind clicked almost as fast as the lightening we heard. "Momma see liten?" She asked. I picked her up, set her on our bed right by the window, and opened up the curtain. She and I snuggled and watched the lightening dance across the murky grey sky for 20 minutes. She was in awe, as well as a little nervous the closer it got to our window.
I tucked that girl into bed when she had decided she had enough of it all. We said prayers and I closed the door all the while being very grateful for the time I had just spend with my girl. I remembered in that little amount of time with my sweet girl there are simple beauties in life that I often pass by and most importantly I remembered how important our time is.
Ecclesiastes chapter 3 discusses time. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." I often forget the amount of time I have in a day. I let school and all of the learning, study, and homework get in the way. When I do have the time with my family I am always concerned about how much time I have to spend with them and how much time I have left to study keeping a tight schedule so I don't fall short in school. I often feel guilty for not spending enough time with my family.
I am in a particular "season" in life that I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be in. It is hard, I miss the a lot of cherished time with family and friends, however, I have learned that the gift of time; not the kind of time that is half spent with your mind elsewhere, but the kind of time that is genuine and wholeheartedly your focus at that very moment is something of great value. We never know when or how long those around us will be here with us. Cherish the time you have.
Thank you for that little reminder baby girl. I am constantly amazed at the things you teach me on a daily basis. I love you more than words.
