Our expressions of Love

Today I watched the sweetest thing of all time on Lds.org...the link is posted above. It was a video with some words from E. Scott about expressions of love toward one another more specifically in a marital relationship. This little video sparked a reminder of what I have been feeling all month and basically since we met for my man and I just wanted to share what some of our expressions of love are.

Things Phillip does for me:
  • Cleans the house
  • Smooches and cuddles
  • Smiles when I am grumpy
  • Flowers to make the day a little brighter
  • Gifts...even when It's not my birthday
  • Tells me he loves me several times a day.
  • Calls to check up on me, or tell me exciting things about his day.
  • Puts my favorite smelling cologne on because he knows i will notice.
  • Shaves and then comes to smooch my face until I notice, then giggles when he sees the light bulb turn on and I have realized just exactly what he is doing.
  • Takes care of the small and simple things around the house such as our bird, watering the plants or the garden, starting loads of laundry, mopping the floor so it sparkles, etc.
  • Makes me laugh till I cry...as well as make my "ugly laugh"
  • Is a worthy priesthood holder and continues to strive and improve himself by living the gospel and being the best he can be.
  • Uplifts me when I am sad, angry or hurt.
  • Spoils me rotten on my birthday!
  • Pretends to be so upset when I tell him " you are in SO much trouble Mr."
  • Has a childlike attitude about everything that makes our everyday seem like an adventure.
  • Picks up the pieces when I forget to
  • Is a very attentive listener
  • Gives very good advice even when It is hard to hear sometimes, but I know it is the best thing.
  • Is a romantic heart and does whatever he can to sweep me off my feet!
  • Writes me love notes randomly that brighten my day
  • And finally Does not judge me or criticize me for being who I am, he loves me regardless of my imperfections and weaknesses and loves me with out holding back!
These are just of the few of Many things he does for me on a constant basis! Now as for a list of what I do for him...well this will be much shorter...because It is from my end of things ( I will have him get on here and make his own list.)

Things I do for My Man:
  • Make him nice meals to come home to...I learned from a wise woman on my mission something that I have loved ever since I heard it "When I make dinner for my family I want them to feel like they are going out to eat at the nicest restaurant so nothing else will compare to meals at home." I know Mr. Beeb would rather have me cook something for him than go out to eat..most meals anyway...but sometimes we are both dying for a quick meal and out to eat it is :)
  • Fold his laundry and put it away
  • Clean the house when life is not too crazy, but picking up when It is.
  • When he has had bad days at work I surprise him with fun things at home so when he walks through the door he forgets and can be at peace in his own home.
  • Little things like simple I love you's, cuddles, smooches...ect.
  • Picking him up when he is down
  • Giggling with him every night
  • Keeping him on his toes when he least expects it with the little naughty streak that i inherited in my genes.
  • Listening when he needs my ears
  • Advising when he needs advice
  • Noticing when I am not my beset and apologizing for my bad behavior and grumpy selfishness
  • Getting him things that light up his face and bring out the childish excitement that I love to see.
  • Loving him for who he is and letting him know it everyday!
Something I think that resembles our love would be our garden. It grows with everyday as we nourish and strengthen it and each other. Sometimes outside forces try to get in the way like weeds that grow, eat our tomatoes just like the deer have done, but we know that together we are stronger than the outside forces and we always try to put each other first and help one another if those things seem to get in the way or break us down.

I am very grateful to have such a loving, caring, and courageous husband. And I am so excited to continue to learn more about him, grow closer to him, and continue these simple expressions of our love over the many years to come! Love you baby! Thanks for being my best friend.

Drn' Deer!

Massive 5 Pt. Buck in our garden....Grrrrrrr!
So we have been very successful with our garden this year...however...something just keeps eating the tops of our tomato plants so we only have one baby tomato on all the 6 plants we have. At first we thought it was snails or rabbits or something because there was no foot prints in the garden up until about 2 weeks ago...then I saw it...the first deer hoof print in the garden and today the little bugger decided to show himself. He was not even trying to be sneaky at all! We had to scare him out of the yard and are hoping he does not come back, but our garden is delish...and If he shows up again I don't blame him!! I told Phillip however to memorize his face so he can get him in the hunt that way...we are just feeding our own dinner! hahahah! Drn' Deer!

Snapshots and tidbits

Uncle Poco Gang... first ride of the day
Last weekend was SuCh a BLAST! My moms Brother and Family came down to enjoy the wonders of Utah one and only amusement park. L.A.G.O.O.N!!! Earlier that morning we went to the bountiful temple and learned some powerful lessons about the plan of salvation as well as the influence of fear in our lives. What an Incredible thing the temple is! The gospel is perfect and makes so much sense. We are grateful to have such a blessing of the gospel in our lives.  We got to the park around 11 and right away were in line for the haunted house from that point we were running around hitting all the rides we could as fast as we could. Surprisingly enough the lines were not long at all. Wicked was most everyone's  favorite ride by far even for the little girl below, she was so brave and wanted to go on all of the coolest rides in the park. Aunt Julies favorite was the good ol' white roller coaster. It was such a fun day the only water ride we waited in line for was the log flume 1 hour and 30 min wait!!! can you believe it! That is where the long lines were...in the water rides. Here are some snap shots of the days adventures! We sure love our family and are very grateful we got to spend some time with them!

Little Becks on the swing

The cute little love birds..I think they said its 20 years this year! and they are still so in love.

Becks and I waiting for the swings to start

"Snyders special"

AH....just finished the last final for summer semester. I only took two classes so I could still have a life this summer with my man, but I definitely spent quite a bit of time on these courses. The first one was Nutrition 1010 and boy did I learn a lot about my eating habits that is less than desirable! Mr. Beeb and I actually went vegan for a while to clear out our system of un-needed fats and cholesterol, however It seemed we were not getting enough protein so that plan is on hold for a while until we can really figure out how to get enough of all the nutrients we need then we will dive back into it again, our bodies absolutely loved it!  The other class was a genealogy class and boy was I surprised at how hard that class was. There was a LARGE amount of time spent learning about the tools and researching the family. Look at all that I have accomplished for my final project, 4 generations!! and...there is more but that will continue to be a work in progress.
Here is what I have been working on the last month!
It is a fulfilling thing to know about those who have gone before you. Their struggles are your struggles, their triumphs are yours and whatever hard things they made it through make you feel that much stronger. I was listening to general conference from 2010 today and Elder Russel M. Nelson had this today about genealogy work which I found soothing to the soul. "When our hearts turn to our ancestors, something changes inside us. We feel part of something greater than ourselves." This work is greater than ourselves and the thing is, you learn so much about yourself when learning about those who have gone before you! Here is a story I learned about my Great Grandmother Vera Allred Brinkerhoff enjoy!...I especially loved the part about the panties! hahah!
Really fuzzy picture but this is My Great Grandmother Vera Allred Brinkerhoff
Vera Allred Brinkerhoff (2-6) 1902-1990
(Daughter of Edward Warren Allred and Rebecca Alvrean Lemmon Allred)

In Vera's own words she stated that her parents went to Wyoming from Southern Utah because of drought and because her father's brother and mother were already living there.

Vera remembered, "We traveled in a covered wagon, mother and five children rode while father walked. (Mother was pregnant with me at the time.) Along the journey, one day, something startled the horses and they began to run. Father tried calming them and running after them. When he realized that he couldn't catch them and mother was in trouble, Father fell to his knees and said, 'Dear Father, please save my family." Suddenly the horses stopped and no one was hurt. They reached Lovell, Wyoming in June and I was born on December 28, 1902.
Since some of the older brothers and sisters worked away from home, I helped father in the fields. After harvest one year he gave me $10.00. I was delighted and sent away in a catalog for a coat and skirt for myself, and a potato masher, egg beater, 4 loaf pans, and some curtain rods for my mother (before this our curtains were put up with string). All this for $10. I was delighted.

We grew and stored our own food. Mother made most of our clothes so it wasn't a surprise to have our panties made from old flour sacks. The printing on the sacks didn't wash out and we would tease each other that our panties said, "Snyder's Special" or "Money back if your not satisfied".

I was a fast runner and always ran the races on the 24th of July. One holiday dad gave us each 50 cents to celebrate the day. I lost mine down the crack in the board sidewalk. I crawled down under but never found it, so I won some races and earned my money back.

I wasn't afraid of spiders, mice, or little water snakes, but Chasty my sister was afraid of everything. I would chase her with a mouse holding it barely above her hair. She would holler "Vera, I'm going to kill you". We had a lot of fun in our family. We were very musical, we played ball games, swam in the canal and river, and danced.

I met Max Shields at a dance and we were married Nov. 22, 1922 by H. Cash Carlton. My first home as a wife was a tent, then into an little shack, where my first cupboard was a box nailed to the wall. Max was not a member of the church and over time we were incompatible, later we divorced. We had one child, Maxine. My little daughter and I lived with my parents.

When our neighbor's wife Josephine Clark Brinkerhoff died, the whole town mourned her passing. I remember the hearse going through town on Christmas Eve amid the shoppers. I helped my widowed neighbor and his daughter with the large family. We canned, baked and sewed. Josephine left him with 11 children; six of whom still lived at home. This name was Warren Brinkerhoff and we were married in July of 1926. He was 18 years older than me. We had ten children of our own. All of our children were born at home except for the last two little girls, they were born in a hospital costing $35 each. We had lots of good times, and some bad times.

Total, Warren was the father of 21 children. He died on April 1 , 1949. Our farm was not paid for and we had no insurance but the children all pitched in and we made it work. Three of my sons filled missions and all are sealed in the temple. While Warren was living we were never sealed in the temple, so 37 years after his death our family made the decision to be sealed in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder H. Burke Peterson on April 3, 1986. I had lost my oldest daughter Maxine and my son Ellis. Ellis's wife Maxine stood in for my daughter Maxine, and my son-in-law Chris Simonsen stood in for my son Ellis. My step-son Lavel Brinkerhoff stood in proxy for his father, my husband Warren. It was a wonderful day, now all my children and I are sealed for eternity."

Singing was important to Vera. She loved to hear her children sing and insisted upon it whenever there was a get-together. She had a beautiful alto voice. Gardening was a great joy for her. She enjoyed giving produce away, canning and working with plants. She had boundless energy. You could always get something to eat at Vera's. Her children would tell you that if she asked for something to be done, it should have been yesterday. She was stubborn and determined; she had to be.

Vera Allred Brinkerhoff lived a long and fruitful life. She was a stalwart to her family keeping them close to her and each other. There was a lot of love in her home. She passed away on June 8, 1990 at her home in Lovell, Wyoming. She is interred in the Lovell Cemetery next to her husband Warren and his first wife, Josephine Clark Brinkerhoff. -autobiographical with additions by Glenda Asay and Karen Simonsen, her daughters.
